Soulmates and Life - Something for Thought Print E-mail
Relationships & Love - Soulmates
Written by Margaret Homsy

As usual I am awake because I cannot sleep as I was thinking about a discussion I had with a very good friend...

We had a discussion about soul mates and our perception of the true meaning of "mate"., which I must tell you is still very confusing as you will see below.

People have many different theories about soul mates, love, life and all that is beautiful!

I have come to realise that your soul mate does not necessarily need to be your lover or life partner but someone you share a sense of your inner self with. Could it be possible that two people who share the same earth at this time are lost and cannot find each other? These two people have this inner fear that perhaps either is not “the one”; afraid to show any emotion on the subject as it may ruin an awesome friendship?? So many questions, although still trying to search for the answers..... Will we ever get the answers?

Do all people find their mate?

Some people find friendships that are very strong and have a bond so strong.  But there are those, who wait until they find what they believe is the "one", but what if that person never comes around? Do you stay alone and keep hoping?

A little bit of background for you, I have an amazing connection, one that some lovers dream about. Although there is no “chemistry” other than this pure love, this amazing connection! Is it possible for two people to be searching for others with the same qualities each has? It would seem that we all search for a person to share the rest of our lives with that has the same qualities each of us have, yearn and desire. We are looking for each other! Why is this?

Is a soul mate one that meets no expectations? Is a soul mate probably everything you’re not looking for, but when you are around them for some time you begin to feel a strong attraction? You just find yourself wanting to be around them...Drawn to them like a magnet. Now this should not be confused with lust because usually the feelings between both partners is mutual...and not one sided. Your soul mate I believe is everything you are not looking for, yet everything you have ever wanted and needed.

Are we separated because of race, religion?  Either way you look at it, souls don't see colour, race or religion... EGO DOES. Soul sees light and beauty..

Don’t you hate the cliché “Oh don’t worry, it wasn’t meant to be”, now I believe that is untrue! Most of us look at life, love etc two ways “a reaction to an action” or “fate”.. BUT I believe its the same.... no matter what you do, it always leads back to the same thing..I have found this to be the way with myself and situations I have been in and I’m sure a lot of other people have as well.. Its the choices you make in life that make you the person you are... we all make a choice to wake up in the morning, so why when something feels so right and its right in front of us are we scared to take the chance and make it happen? Do we leave it in the hands of “fate” and fail to make the decision.  Are we afraid of what other people may think of the decision we have made? Are we scared of that something that feels good, are we scared to feel?

Now the above, doesn’t just apply to soul mates and love, it of course applies to us, our lives, and our time here on Earth.

All these unanswered questions that drive me insane, however insanity aside, I've come to the conclusion no matter what you do and whatever decisions one makes in their life, people will always have something to say. Some people may approve some may not. But whose life is it? Whose decision is it?

I do have the hope that fate exists. I have met some incredible people in my life and all for a reason. Some people never truly figure out what the reason is at the point of meeting, but somewhere down the line, it becomes clear.

Some people say that you have to go through all the bad and wrong decisions before you find the right ones. But that is life. There is no wrong or right way to life. You live it as you know. As the person you have grown to be. Do not let anybody change you. Be who you are and don't back down from being that person. You are that person for a reason.

I suggest that we shouldn't be afraid to do something we really want too. Is it necessary that we analyse every situation that is put before us? No! Do we let our ego take control? No! Decisions get put off and that feeling of right fades.... And let me not forget that feeling of regret and sadness, which turns into anger (another article for you all later).

Another cliché “It’s better to regret things you've done, and then always wonder about it if you hadn't”. Why have those feelings in the first place? Putting all what I have said aside, if you make the decision and there isn’t a reaction would it still happen? If you didn't put effort in the first place, to make the decision, would fate still make it that way???

One way to find out – put your thoughts and feelings into Action! Make the Decision. Act upon it. If you don’t then perhaps it will still remain an unsolved question that may never receive an answer.

Another wonderful mystery of life.
