When I was thinking how I can help people improve their lives I decided to come up with a model that would make it easier for everyone to understand what is going on under life’s surface and why we experience what we do... In this article we will explore the basics, the included charts should make it very easy to see your life from a completely different angle.
As you body consists of organs, tissue and other body parts, your life as well could be separated into segments. Those segments are your HEALTH, RELATIONSHIPS–LOVE and MONEY. All those parts are interconnected and influence each other. Your health will have a direct impact on you ability to make money and more money will enable you to buy nutritious food which will have an influence over your health. These three essential components will directly impact the quality of your life. Before we start to explore this any further, we should clarify that you of course do not need money to be healthy or to communicate – An Amazon Indian lives happily without money and a mobile phone, he has his close circle of family and friends hunting and picking fruit in the local rain forest. In his case money would translate into weapons and tools, his health would have an impact on the ability to hunt and attracting his life partner. So unless you want to live on a remote island we will agree that the money (or ability to function in the world) plays a crucial role in today’s society. HEALTH We can further separate heath into 3 types – Physical, Emotional and Mental – all of them being of equal importance. Your body will allow you to be a part of your social group, you will be able to work and play. Any major handicap will put additional pressure on you and you have to find new ways to overcome it. A blind person’s life is significantly different comparing with somebody who can see. Emotional health will impact the way you treat yourself and others and will have a direct influence over your social life. Your mental health and your beliefs might further define you as a person. Are you introverted or extraverted? How are you using your mind – constructively or destructively? How is your memory? What is your education? LOVE & RELATIONSHIPS Your ability to be a part of society will have a direct impact on your emotional health. Relationships with yourself, family, friends, partner; relationships at work and outside of your work, their quality and numbers will have effect on the other two aspects. More contacts and your ability to communicate can give you more of a chance to get the right job or make your business idea into success. MONEY More money or your ability to get money or something exchangeable for it will give you a choice to lead a healthier life and also increase you chances to communicate in this world. Money = phone, internet, TV, car ... (note: a wealthy person can still be overweight and die of a heart attack in his forties – money will give you choice, broke person has no or limited choices)
Any of these areas might contain you strengths or weaknesses. Your physical predisposition might help you become a great athlete if you develop this gift. Your “weakness” – being introverted might be turned into strength – people need somebody to listen, observe and help... Now if you look at FIG 1 on the diagram you can see how these three life aspects interact and how they can lead into a better life or just the opposite. Life tends to move in circles or more so spiral; this movement can be towards better or worse. Everything is interconnected (see FIG 2 ) so if you improve one part of your life, you will most likely improve another. This is a basic principle of life. During your life you will find yourself on a rollercoaster going through cycles of growth and setbacks. The overall progress will depend on your decisions and understanding of basic laws: what choices do you make; what action do you take; what is your intention..? (more on these laws in another article) When we are born we face basically no challenges. But as we grow older we find ourselves facing many obstacles, we overcome some and we are burdened by others for most of our life. (see FIG 3 ) As we find and develop our talents, certain areas of our life grows and other parts whither as our attention is in other places. The challenge here is to try and find your strengths and weaknesses and work on both. That way, you will gain more balance and enjoy your life more. Focus on a maximum of 3 things at the same time and improve them bit by bit then more onto the others; keep moving in the spiral upwards. You will find that challenges that seemed almost impossible to overcome will seem insignificant after you work on you strengths for a while. Life will get easier step by step. Compare your life to a tree. The first few years it grows so quickly, it’s healthy and it almost seems nothing can stop it. Then maybe a storm comes and break this young tree in half, leaving it without leaves and branches... Only a bare stick left – first it looks dead but after a few months new branches appear almost out of nowhere, tree is growing again, it just won’t give up. Nature is a great teacher, just look around and you can learn a lot from it. In case you’ve never done it before, sit down and make a list of all your weaknesses and strengths. Pick three most important and think for a while, what would be the easiest way to turn weakness into strength or improve all those talents. Do you love soccer? Maybe it’s time to go and join that group of guys playing every Sunday in the local soccer club. Your never know, you might end up being a coach for local kids and become inspirational. Do you love art? Maybe it’s time to paint some pictures or take some photos and approach some stock photo websites and get some money out of your hobby. Whatever it is that you like to do, go out and do it bit by bit. Develop that talent of yours. We will reveal tools to help you start changing your life for the better (that is if you want to change it, sometimes people need more pain before they make the decision to take a dive). We will explore each of the segments in detail in other articles but for now it’s important to understand the forces behind all this. If you know what you are dealing with it’s always much easier. Remember to explore the charts provided; they make it much easier to understand what we discussed here. Related articles: Change Your Life Series – How to Change - Part 2 |
